|
|
I have a set of BBS RS001 that is originally 4X100 that I was keeping to put on my corrado. But after I upgraded to the plus suspension it's now is no longer 4X100 but 5X100.
So how can I make these BBS wheels fit? Adapters?
Adapters make the wheel shift outwards by 15mm and gives too much poke.
So a redrill is the best alternative keeping both bolt patterns so it can be used on a 4X100 with ease.
there will be two original holes per wheel hat will be together.

| Interesting. Who drilled the 4 extra holes and how much does this cost? |

RS001 comes originally 4X 100 and I drilled another 5 holes 5X100 so it can fit both my corrado and civic. |

OK, First off, I don't want to sound like an ass or anything. I'm not that much of a turd when it comes to wheels....
I know these are originally 4 X 100.
You went and redrilled to 5 X 100.
Great. Correct me if I'm wrong.
Now let's do the math. Being a X 100 Bolt pattern, you only need to redrill 4 holes not 5, as you are reusing one of the existing holes of the original 4 X 100 pattern. If you were to redrill 5 holes, you would end up with 4 overlapping holes instead of 3.
Even your pictures support the fact that only 4 holes were drilled... 8 holes total!
So here goes my question for a second time....

From your response to my previous post, it seems you redrilled the holes.
Then, Where did you do them? in your garage on the floor or on the press drill? hahah.
I have done many mods in the past and at work where I had to redril in or next to an existing hole. It is a bitch and never comes out as clean as that.
To do this the propper way you either use a Pointer machine or a milling machine. You get the right size of tools, proper lug bolt seats with the proper ball mill and benifit of precision and rigidity for clean cuts.
What did you use for a stensil...
All I wanted to know was, if you had them drilled in a machine shop ( as that is the proper way of doing it IMO) , where it was and how much it cost.
If you did in fact do this with an electric drill in your basement using some crappy drill bits, wrist muscles and an old 5 X 100 used brake disq, then props! |

I went over to my buddy's work during lunch and we rigged up the milling machine to perform this procedure. We used one original hole to line up the other 4 for drilling.
The cost is I owe my buddy a favour.
You really cannot drill a hole next to a hole and only a milling machine can do that accurately.
Although I have redrilled new holes into a new wheel using a drill at home it is not impossible but the results maybe not desireable.
I had momo quasars that were 4X114.3 and I drilled four extra holes in between like those 8 holes universal wheels on the market.
These were going on my scirocco which everyone knows are hubcentric so being off slightly was not going to be the end of the world. |

Great, thanks.
That is exactly the kind of elaboration I was looking in for your response before hand.
It is always good to have good friends in good places.
It just confirms that you did in fact get it done at a machine shop.
Nice work.
I'm still wondering how much this would cost if someone was to pay another to get it done... |

Well I asked my buddy and his boss did a few of these a while back.
if the wheel can be placed in his rig it would be like 65 for 5 holes.
if he needs to make something to hold it into his rig that would be another 60-70 dollars more.
I has the bbs rs disassembled and only had the centers so it was easy to rig up. |

His boss noted that he will on modify high quality wheel like bbs, oz, amg, schmidt, etc.... since he knows the casting and forging is top notch hence structural integrity is not compromised.
He will not do the asian made cast or any multi fitament wheels. |

well i got plenty lips and barrels that are still new custom made by kodiak motorsports that is 30 holes and 16 inches, I assembled them to check for clearance on the rado and did not install or have tires mounted. those parts are for sale if interested, like 6.5 and 6.0 inner barrels and some 1.0, 1.5, 2.0 and 2.5 outer lips.
BTW Daryle does not produce these anymore for the public except me. |
